| 1125493 | 2010-12-30 20:12:00 | This is a link to a radio station which took a listener survey over quite a period and the list is the "offical" top 500 songs of all time .... www.grownups.co.nz Please note M&M and Lady Barf Barf do not get included ... this is REAL music .... :D I listened to Solid Gold when I was driving around Canterbury recently, it was quite good for a couple of hours of nostalgia of songs I heard on the radio when I was growing up. However how anyone can listen to that station for long is beyond me, wouldn't you want to press the kill switch when Bohemian Rhapsody came on for the thousandth time? Nothing wrong with a bit of nostalgia once in a while but with so much good new music around at the moment, there is no shortage of good stuff to listen to. Anyway for nostalgic purposes, wasn't Teenage Kicks (www.youtube.com) meant to be the best song ever? In 1978, John Peel played the song twice in a row on his Radio 1 show. Peel often rated new bands' songs with 1 to 5 stars. He liked Teenage Kicks so much he awarded it 28 stars. In 2001 Peel had written in The Guardian that apart from his name all he wanted on his gravestone were the words, "Teenage dreams, so hard to beat". And he almost got his wish (www.telegraph.co.uk). |

| 1125498 | 2011-01-02 03:00:00 | Dusty Springfield was a big hit in the US too. She had a version of "Silver Threads And Golden Needles" (listen.grooveshark.com) that was the best recording of that song ever done. Dusty was with the group called: "The Springfields" at that time. |
