| 1124603 | 2010-08-05 08:11:00 | we never considered it. we are just on the $45 landline plan. it works out that ndsl tend to cost around $20-25 for the line then the internet on top of that. the internet tends to be FS/FS. so if you are happy on a slower connection, you might be paying for something extra. in otherwords ndsl is not totally free, ie., all up you cannot just pay $30 or $40. for those are are relatively low users, 2 Degrees has $50 plan all up with mobile data if they are in the main cities. I pay $79.95 per month. That includes Internet at FS up/ FS down and 25GB data. I have VOIP italk which is free, plus 500 free minutes. (which I never use all up). No mobile anything with that. On Fusion ndsl with Xnet I paid $89.95 plus $1 per GB data, plus tolls. I averaged about $105 per month and was always worried about cutting down on toll calls and going over my data cap! LL LL |

LL LL yup that's right. the point i was trying to make is that ndsl is not totally free, there is still a charge for the line. for example's Xnet's FS/FS by itself cost $49.95 and then $1/GB. Ndsl certainly does not cost just $49.95 + $1/GB. if some clients are happy on FS/128k or even 256/128k they might pay more for ndsl. For example the former clients on the $29.95 plan (which includes 3GB) plus $45 (landline) = $75. some people and the OP noted, they may not want a phone line at all, they don't need it to make calls at all ... for those who are low users. 3GB might be enough for some. I had 3GB for the past few few years. If you have windows updates already, so every now/then you just get them as they are available, daily email and surf the web, not much streaming or downloads. With 2 Degrees in the main cities that only cost $50 all up. If you are a even low user, maybe just daily text emails and read the news, 1GB might be enough. $20 all up. The cheapest ndsl is prob around $70+. |
