1125131	2010-08-07 01:16:00	Hi everyone, We recently purchased a few old chandeliers off TradeMe and wanted to put the energy saving bulbs in them. We found these (lightbulbman.co.nz) and wondered if anyone here had used them or similar ones. I'd be interested to know what they're like in terms of brightness compared to a normal incandescent lamp. Also we're looking for a dimmable energy saver that outputs the equivalent of 150w. I found this one (lightbulbman.co.nz) but it's only 20w (equivalent of 100w). Money well spent? :p TIA.	jwil1 (65)

1125134	2010-08-07 03:51:00	We have been using the energy saving bulbs for a while now and find them every bit as good as the incandescent bulbs. We have two lights in our bedroom, both with energy saving bulbs, which is almost more than enough. But when the cost of running two is about the same as the cost of one incandescent it makes a lot of sense. As our incandescents give up the ghost we are replacing them with energy saving bulbs. In the kitchen we have replaced two 75w bulbs with 23w which is the equivalent of two 115w. The output is very bright (1500 lumens each) and much more preferable. I can watch SWMBO preparing the evening meal with little visual effort.:devil	Roscoe (6288)
1125135	2010-08-07 04:25:00	Youse guys get nicer looking E-bulbs than we do. Ours look like swirled soft ice cream. (pix 1) Either that or the ones that look like thick crayons stacked together. (pix 2) The only thing I dislike is that they start slow and need time to warm up before they get to full lumen capacity.	SurferJoe46 (51)

We have the two in your pics (which come on immediately) and we also have some more conventional looking bulbs as well. The more conventional ones usually take a few seconds to come up to full fire power, but when they use less power and last ten times longer, it is a small inconvenience.	Roscoe (6288)

1125138	2010-08-07 05:55:00	Ours are more energy saving than yours Joe, we have bayonet fittings that only takes 1/8 of a turn whereas those Edison screw things take heaps of revs just to get going. I had some of the junk warm white lamps that are probably quite comforting to candle fans, but it is all cool white now; faster warm-up and better to see by. I don't really care what the compact lamps look like, if you are a TV watcher I guess the lamps are more entertaining to watch, but the TV is astonishingly rarely on here, so there are too many things that are way more interesting than watching lamps glow. One infernal nuisance with the compact fluorescents is the extra weight in anglepoise and gooseneck lamps.	R2x1 (4628)
1125139	2010-08-07 06:02:00	I got a couple from here http://www.omicron.co.nz/ They were demonstrating them at the Home and Garden show this year. They seem to have all different kinds, both bayonet and screw type. I am gradually replacing all my old ones. My lounge, dining and kitchen are all now incandescant free areas! LL	lakewoodlady (103)
