1125031 2010-08-06 11:16:00 Tried to buy something on eBay, and the transaction won't go though.

This card cannot be used for this transaction. You can complete the checkout with another debit or credit card. Please enter your new card information below.

Obviously my card has sufficient funds and is not expired, don't know what they're on about..

Anyone had this problem before, and how do you fix it?

1125033 2010-08-06 14:40:00 ASB Debit card by any chance? Cato (6936)
1125034 2010-08-07 01:40:00 Westpac actually. Did ASB have problems with theirs?

PayPal emailed me and said it wasn't their fault, it was Westpac declining the transaction (don't know why though)

Oh well, at least it worked in the end...

I had problems with my ASB debit card, online and off. Thought I was out of money, but I wasn't. Assumed it was just a one off issue that day...

1125036 2010-08-07 03:46:00 Maybe they were both affected by the same problems.. Agent_24 (57)
1125037 2010-08-07 04:19:00 I wonder if it works the same way there as it does here:

If you card gets denied here - and even if it's found to have been good all along, then you still get the credit dings saying something negative in your credit report.

1125038 2010-08-09 03:37:00 And the plot thickens (or gets weirder)...

My weekly account balance email this morning looked strangely high, upon logging in to my internet banking, I found that the transaction from Friday has vanished, and the money back in my account.

:badpc:

1125039 2010-08-09 04:17:00 Don't celebrate the new found cash though. If they made a mistake they are entitled to recover it and if you spent it - you'll get hacked for it. SurferJoe46 (51)
1125040 2010-08-09 05:25:00 Yeah, I don't think that would be a clever idea.

Called Westpac, they said the transaction is showing up against my card on their end, but they agreed it was strange that it wasn't showing up for me.

They also said they have no record of the several failed transactions...
