1124273 2010-08-03 07:56:00 I am sure you guys have heard about it .

I think they are great, much cheaper, over time can only get cheaper . I particularly like it that we are finally started moving towards the wireless age and that some people may not have a landline and now one can rely on 3G but the price is not as bad .

ADSL . I think Telecom has the 3GB at $40 right? Some ISPs have it at $30 or $35 depending if you want 256k or FS/128k or FS/FS . Add a landline and it's not much diff to 2D's of $50 .

It's 10GB is not bad either at $150 . ADSL might be $45 for the landline and then perhaps $40-50 for ADSL depending on who you go with and the speed of the upload .

1124274 2010-08-03 08:04:00 What sort of performance do you get through 2Degrees' 3G data network? somebody (208)
1124275 2010-08-03 08:21:00 Those prices are only in the main cities, dunno yet but I read 7.6Mbit is the theoretical speed.

I think they will be great for those younger people and some retirees who don't have a landline. Like dialup, ADSL requires $45 landline and then the $30-50 BB fee. Just to have the most basic connection.

These days with laptops one can be online in the civic square enjoying the sun or in a cafe. You won't have 2 accounts to attend with.

1124276 2010-08-03 08:25:00 I'm also curious - their new rates beat Vodafone's hands-down, so if the performance is good enough then I might consider switching. Erayd (23)
1124277 2010-08-03 09:43:00 Pity that the entry level one still is only 30 days rather than say 90 days.. paulw (1826)

1124279 2010-08-03 22:32:00 A pity that couldn't announce a point of difference and declare that the data that you buy (prepaid) won't expire.

That's the biggest rort of all data plans - use it or lose it.

Doesn't happen with voice....

Ssshhh - - Telecom may be listening, and will slap you with a "non-use" fee ;)

Telecom's 500 MB prepaid pack is "pay for what you use". If you use less than 300 MB then you don't pay the whole $30 ($22.50 when using the biggest topup bonus).

But it still expires at the end of the calender month..
