2011-01-18 22:51:00 | My mates PC is having troubles whenever he playes games the starting videos on games it has horizontal lines lines, like the ones you see when youre playing games with OLD graphics cards. Here are the specs Core i5 750 12GB DDR3 1333 Ga-P55-UD3 2xWD Caviar Black 64mb RAID 0 Aywun 750w PSU Radeon HD5750 Now before you say "its a cheap psu" or something. its not the PSU. we tested it in mine. its fine. HOWVER the MOBO is a refurbished model. And when i run the PCIE lane at 8x there is NO benchmark degradation, i would have thought there would surely have been, unless this card doesnt utilise all 16 lanes. Does the same with my 6850 in tehre aswell.

2011-01-18 22:53:00 | A few things to check: Driver version Temperature of CPU / GPU CPU Utilization while running the games Speaking of which, what kind of games are we talking about here?

2011-01-18 23:02:00 | Is vsync on? If you're using an LCD on older games with vsync off, you'll get horizontal lines because of the fps being too high for the lcd to display, and you'll get tearing. I would say it's something like that because a 6850 should handle anything you throw at it. | 8ftmetalhaed (14526) | |
2011-01-18 23:05:00 | ANY games. Temps are fine Driver version didnt make a difference have updated it regularly he tells me 10.12 atm, it was 10.11 and 10.10 when my card was in there owever we couldn't fully test the card before as the PSU was being delivered, by fine i mean CPU Max load 60'C GPU Max load 65-76C CPU Utilization roughly 15-30% its mainly cut scenes where it happens. AOM-Crysis. | Mr_Olympia (7727) | |

2011-01-18 23:33:00 | Aywun 750w PSU Now before you say "its a cheap psu" or something. its not the PSU. we tested it in mine. its fine. Well it might work fine in yours and it may not be the cause of the problem at all but Aywun PSUs are still cheap! If it only happens in videos, maybe it's a video codec error?

2011-01-19 00:47:00 | Ok, o i pu his Aywun "cheap" brand PSU into my PC and LORD BEHOLD IT WORKS WELL. And the card works well. If not abit underpowered (Gamer Settings 720p) Crysis. Display Shows 5000fps on Crysis Loading screen where its flickering. So are you telling me that 5000fps well 4400-5000 fps is a PSu? It honestly seems as though its flickering and crashing due to a bandwidt error. i.e ill have 40fps gameplay then all of a sudden fps drop and crash. Could be a Vide codec but my installl is old and his is fresh. | Mr_Olympia (7727) | |
2011-01-19 00:51:00 | Graphics card. RMA it. Its not the graphics card. I had this in my system with no worries. i sold him this card, before i grabbed my 6850. (which i also had problems with).

Funny that the card works fine in yours but not his. My friend is having a similar problem, he bought an HD5770 - won't work in his PC but works great in another. He also swapped PSUs but it made no difference. Gigabyte reckon he needs a motherboard BIOS update, but Foxconn won't give him one as the board is too old. Perhaps your friend also needs a BIOS upgrade? |
