| 1170002 | 2011-01-16 03:26:00 | OK, assembling a PC, for the pedants. :p How hard is it these days to put your own PC together compared to the old days of single processor CPUs and simple graphics cards? I "built" my last two PCs without any issues in 2002 and 2005 - AMD Socket 939 - (good grief, as long ago as that?! :eek: ) but I'm well behind with the hardware these days so I'm not sure how complicated it has got in the past few years. And just to clarify, I am talking about the actual putting it together, not choosing the bits and pieces. |

| 1170003 | 2011-01-16 03:42:00 | Socket 775 CPU's can be tricky to install. Socket 478 was a piece of cake, (but they're pretty much dead now). Dont know about AMD's, never built one. But imo the metal black plate of the mobo that the ports stick through was the hardest :lol:. |

| 1170009 | 2011-01-16 03:53:00 | Follow the manual and hopefully, you'll get it in, in one piece :p And the front port audio connections. Easiest way to fix that. Make sure the case you get has it in one block, not separate. Then you wont have to spend all day and night, figuring out what goes where. PSU - you just push it in, no checking to see if the two parts are round the right way first. No jumpers on add-on cards and playing with the IRQ settings. CPU HSFs are just a push in object now. Etc.... |
