1169973 2011-01-16 00:49:00 Somewhere I've seen a website with monitor brands according to their type and quality. Now, of course, I can't find it. :(

Is someone able to help? I'm sure I've seen reference to it here.

TIA. :)

1169976 2011-01-16 20:47:00 tftcentral has a panel lookup database so you can see which manufacturer made the panel (there are only a handful). It also lists which type of panel it is so you can get a pretty good indication of the quality. utopian201 (6245)
1169977 2011-01-16 23:50:00 You're right - that is the site. It has changed it's appearance, and I think also that it discusses less options. But helpful. Ta. :) R.M. (561)
1169978 2011-01-17 02:03:00 It may not be of much use in real life.....
The same model monitor can actually have used several different panels during its production run.
The Samsung 22" I bought, based on excellent initial reviews, used significantly worse panels 6 months later (samsung model no. didnt change, despite using at least 3 different panels)
i got one with the crappier panels :groan:

Aren't most Korean brands are crap stuff? :D

Never like Korean made stuff - they look real good, but only externally!

No. LG IPS panels are the the most widely available (and therefore cheapest) IPS panels. They are used in the high end HP, Dell, iMacs and Apple cinema displays.

It doesn't matter which panel you have in your monitor or who made it, it won't be as good as an LG IPS.
