1170134 2011-01-18 02:06:00 Its a bit hard to compare prices, considering the 1156 & 1155's have different Ghz ratings.

A couple that I have just looked up, that are the same, the new 1155 is either cheaper or almost the same price as the 1156 ( with in $5)

If places are selling them at a higher price, thats the shop putting on a bigger markup.

1170135 2011-01-18 02:12:00 Actually DRM will likely be in AMD Bulldozer as well.

As for sockets, the Intel 1366 socket by the time it is replaced later in the year will have been out about 3 years which is not bad historically. The 1156 however is a bit of a embarrassment only being out less than half that time, but it never had a big future on the Intel roadmap and that was well known.

If Bulldozer can keep up with I7 why not go AMD, but i am not holding my breath unfortunately.

1170140 2011-01-19 01:28:00 Makes 2 of us then going for AMD.

LOL..My Kentfield is 90% as powerful as AMD's fastest CPU, the 970 BE in Sysmark, Intel's SB is 30% more powerful and that's before you put 40% OC on it....

AMD cant compete, plain and simple, only thing they can do is drop prices, and while thats all good for the peasants, its not going to win an enterprise contracts!

Well I'm glad they're the price they are, otherwise I'd still be stuck on a 900Mhz Celeron.

Currently using an AMD 4000+ X2 and it works fine for me. Not a gamer so I don't really care.

Why buy more than you need?
