| 1125790 | 2010-08-09 09:53:00 | Well it's odd - I have read online reviews where many mentioned SuperAntiSpyware found plenty of Trojans. For me it found no Trojans for numerous scans, but it did find adware type cookies - the same batch - same folders - everyday. I mentioned that here in a thread recently, and one suggestion was to run ccleaner before hand (Thanks Wainuitech), and Lo behold no more adware/cookies... I'm saying some spyware programs could be worth keeping on standby, than to run frequently, depending on browsing/download habits (noted above about p2p). But I use Avast 5/Spybot/Malwarebytes/Spyware Blaster but have on standby (portable version or deactivated in services) MSE, SuperAntiSpyware, and Trojan Remover. Interesting for your research, as you could probably take it further by testing with an actual virus/known spyware (controlled of course) for your selected programs. I have thought about doing that to write about it. |

It would be interesting to see if that test revealed similar results to the magazine reviews which usually contradict the personal experience of every professional technician on this forum. |

| 1125792 | 2010-08-09 19:51:00 | P2P is becoming a way of life unfortunately. Gradually more stuff is being delivered in that format even some Linux Iso's, it seems Speedys aversion to P2P is like my aversion to facetwat, I refuse to join it despite knowing that is how most people interact these days. I do use P2P on occasion though simply through not having the time to find alternatives when in a hurry | gary67 (56) | ||
| 1125793 | 2010-08-09 21:06:00 | They can use P2P programs, if they want, thats not my prob. BUT, sooner or later I bet most of them will get infected. Out of all the computers I've fixed, ALL of them were infected with something, and ALL of them had some kind of P2P program installed ...and they all had some kind of Windows too? Follow your logic... :) |
