1171916 2011-01-23 09:16:00 Hi all,

I'm a IT admin at a Wellington high school and we are in the final stages of a Windows 7 deployment.

One problem we have found (the hard way!) is that a student logging on using the physical keyboard and mouse of a PC, can log off a remotely connected administrator.

What happens is this:

Admin logs on with RD.
Student comes along, sees normal 'Press Ctrl Alt Del to log on' and attempts to log on. They get a message that another user is logged on (the admin) and they are asked whether they want to disconnect this remote user. They click Yes.
Admin has 30 seconds in which to deny the disconnect, otherwise the admin is automatically logged off the PC . This is irritating because we might have the RD window minimised while we wait for, say, some software to install and we might well miss the disconnect request. If the admin doesn't respond the install would be corrupt.

This wasn't an issue in XP as users couldn't boot off remote admins.

Is there some group policy setting (or otherwise) which would prevent users logging on whilst an admin is connected remotely? Or a way to increase the time to more than 30 seconds?

Thanks :) :badpc:
