1171150 2011-01-20 03:02:00 Ever since PriceSpy upgraded (sic) its site a year or so ago, I've had major problems using it: slow to load, takes forever to act on filter choices and Apply Filters, keeps insisting no filters have been selected, and after a short while the whole screen freezes. I'm using a 2.0Ghz laptop with 2G RAM, connected via TelstraClear cable broadband, and don't have any such problem with any other website I can think of.

Is it just me, or have others had similar difficulties? As things are, I can't complete the searches on PriceSpy that I want to.

1171151 2011-01-20 03:05:00 I have never had trouble. robbyp (2751)
1171152 2011-01-20 03:10:00 I gave up on it not long after the change, mostly the businesses didn't have stock. I went back to Ascent and Computer lounge, occasionally Playtech and PB tech gary67 (56)
1171153 2011-01-20 03:19:00 I've once seen it screw up the data, but otherwise find it, and the filters ok.

On the other hand, the Ascent site can struggle on a bunch of filters.

1171154 2011-01-20 03:22:00 I still use it but yes it can be annoying.

You need a fast computer and good browser to use it, it's heavy on Javascript I think which makes it very bad on older browsers like IE6

Either way, there are some alternatives:

http://howmuchisit.co.nz/
http://m.pricespy.co.nz/ (mobile version)

I actually find the new website really good. Not the most pretty website, but it is pretty powerful. I saved heaps building my last PC on it. They also have pricing for other electrical items now

1171156 2011-01-20 04:16:00 The filters are useful but everything else pretty badly done Agent_24 (57)
1171157 2011-01-20 10:39:00 As agent_24 said, there are alternatives, I like howmuchisit, you can just go to hmii.co.nz

Also know the guy that did the bulk of the developing for it from another forum, good guy :-)
