1128803 2010-08-17 21:29:00 Film critics universally acclaimed the movie "Inception", but universally bagged the film "The Girl who Played with Fire".

My barber went to Inception and says it was the worst movie he's ever seen, bar none. He was going to walk out half way through, but thought it might get better, but it didn't, and he left none the wiser. Everyone I've talked to about it has said the same.

We went to "The Girl who Played with Fire" last night and thought it was great. Admittedly, we'd been to the first one (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and we've read the books (Millennium Trilogy), but you would think that the critic who reviewed such a film would know something about it.

Anyway, I'd recommend "The Girl who Played with Fire" in spite of what the critics say, especially if you've read the books or seen the first movie.

We don't plan to waste our money on "Inception".

In a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, a highly skilled thief is given a final chance at redemption which involves executing his toughest job till date, Inception.

1128805 2010-08-17 22:18:00 Inception was fantastic, haven't seen either the Girl who Played with Fire or the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, however the reviews seem to be mostly positive for the Girl who Played with Fire... 66% on rotten tomatoes.

Critics cant always be trusted but you have to remember that usually they are judging a film as a piece of artwork rather than as an entertainment medium.

1128806 2010-08-17 22:33:00 Film critics are also influenced by the perks they receive from the producers... :p SoniKalien (792)
1128807 2010-08-17 22:54:00 I thought Inception had an interesting and unique storyline (dreams within dreams altering 'this world' reality) with good cgi and music. It was a challenge to follow exactly what was happening so a sharp mind is needed. This is not the sort of film you want to watch half asleep or being distracted in some way. But it is not for everyone and I can imagine some people wanting to walk out. Worthwhile seeing if you want a different experience, but don't expect the usual Sci Fi flick. Strommer (42)
1128808 2010-08-17 23:21:00 Those that cut hair for a living are our most intilligent gifted people, so if a random barber didn't "get it" then that's good enough for me.... Metla (12)

Hmm, if you enjoyed Avatar then your love for Inception might be enough to put me off going to see it

1128812 2010-08-18 01:27:00 I read an article about "The girl who played with fire" that included an interview with the director.

The conclusion seemed to be (if I recall correctly), that:
1. the novel is much harder to make into a film than the first one.
2. there are problems with absences of the two key characters.
3. the director of the first film was much better than the director of the second, so there is some disappointment for those who loved "The girl with the dragon tattoo".

In the article I read, even the director seemed somewhat disappointed with the outcome. Generally the reviews have been lukewarm. One of the reviews suggested that the film would be much better for those who had read the books, which you had done, so maybe that review was right?
