Nichicon aren't bad, but around 2005 or so they had a huge batch (read: all of them) of dodgy HM series. The new HM and the other series are just fine.

1171815 2011-01-24 03:37:00 Well, I guess we will have to agree to disagree about this WT... :D wainuitech (129)
1171816 2011-01-24 03:53:00 i've personally cloned 20 dell lappies or pc's in 2 or 3hrs.

set one bench up with one system can even be a laptop with a corporate switch 100mbps, you can clone any number at one time. i did 8 or so .... You could stick a 20 port switch on another ...

1171818 2011-01-24 05:45:00 I'll have to side with Sol on this one.

I've put through a fair number of Dell's (Business & Home models) and had only 2 issues.
One was a dead ethernet port on the mobo, their tech replaced it in the office next morning.
The other was a dead DVD drive, again replaced promptly with one phone call.

I've also shifted a lot of ex-lease Optiplexes that just keep on trucking.
Make great headless router/firewalls or file/mail/web servers.

You don't get to sell the numbers they do and still be in business, by having the sort of failure rate you are implying.

BTW those Ultrasharp monitors are nice :) (and last time I looked were one of the few with a 'zero dead pixel' replacement policy)

1171819 2011-01-24 06:26:00 Can you really trust Dell ? If Dell are capable of This here (gizmodo.com) a few years back, would you really trust them now. Adding to the report Just last year (www.neowin.net).

So with 1 year warranties - many people would be tough out of luck.
As I mentioned before I called dell re this problem, and got told in no certain terms "Its out of warranty" -- and it was only purchased early 2009 - Called them early December 2010.

BTW:
BTW those Ultrasharp monitors are nice (and last time I looked were one of the few with a 'zero dead pixel' replacement policy) Viewsonic have been doing that for Years - 3 year warranty, any fault, replaced. In fact last year I had one Viewsonic fail, 1 month after its 3 year warranty, they still replaced it free.
