1128931 2010-08-18 22:03:00 There we go, better PM visibility now in the footer. Think that's good enough? Now the private messages page needs some sort of a button up the top there viz currently the only way out of private messaging is by scrolling to the bottom.

Hope you guys don't kind my using this thread as a running changelog :D Kinda helps me know what I've done and where I've likely put the code, the plan is to be nice and re-release the changes to the vBulletin community :)

Just remember, with PM's, tell it to open in the current window, or if you're running Android like me, it won't open due to the popup blocker. Still, it looks nice, and although it's duplicating itself on the homepage, I think it's convenient to have that in the footer on each page, for the few extra bytes of data ;)

See the 3rd screenshot:

1128932 2010-08-18 22:33:00 Liking it even more - blazing fast on iPhone 3GS (will be interesting to see the difference once ads are served), nice clean layout, emoticons and images visible. No problems here with the browser not remembering me.

Signature should be simple - smartphone emoticon sounds good.

1128933 2010-08-18 22:36:00 :) thanks for the feedback

Yeah it's insanely fast here too, amazing it's the same pressf1 that's so slow (by comparison) on the desktop.
Page loads and renders in well under a second on my Nexus One!!

PM navigation improvements, I think that's me for now, time to do done work I'll get paid for ;)

1128934 2010-08-18 22:46:00 How about something such as:

:pf1mobile:

Or:

:pf1mob:

Each is only ~900bytes, considering most pages are between 5-20KB, it's not really much extra... Or are users happy without a "This was posted from the PressF1 Mobile version" indicator? I was just thinking that it could be a nice little way of saying "Yeah I posted this from my Cellphone, I'm that addicted that I check PF1 even when I'm not at my desk" ;)

1128935 2010-08-18 23:13:00 Neat enough, a good job so far R2x1 (4628)
1128936 2010-08-19 01:21:00 I like the second of the two smartphone icons.

One thing I have noticed is that when I click a link from an email notification from a thread I am subscribed to, I am taken to the first post in the thread rather than the 'newpost' indicated in the link. Similarly, when clicking the last post link from the home page, I am taken to the first post in the thread. Is this an artifact of the mobile version of the page or a bug in the phone browser? (Wouldn't be at all surprised if it was the latter - I'm even more seriously considering a Nexus One over this Crapple iPhone now, with a serious bug in the Calendar implemented with iOS4)

1128937 2010-08-19 01:46:00 Yeah I noticed that too. I'll look into it further.

In the mean time, do yourself a favor, and get an N1 ;)

1128940 2010-08-19 02:05:00 I like the idea of an icon of sorts, although the one just above seems a little big. Resized to 13x20 looks a little better IMO.

I need to bust out the xbox and try it out...
