1127774 2010-08-15 03:51:00 Can you imagine trying to grow whist being run over constantly,
what is the word,perseverance?

It's nature's way of breaking down mountains and the morale of council road workers.

1127775 2010-08-15 04:49:00 As a friend of mine says "It's a pi$$-poor day, when you don't learn something" :)
When you stop learning you may as well stop living.:nerd:

1127776 2010-08-15 05:20:00 If you use lichen to do dye it will give you a yellow. mikebartnz (21)
1127777 2010-08-15 05:24:00 Maybe it is growing between the stone chips embedded in asphalt and the tyre being flat can not touch the lichen unless it grows longer than 8mm

Can I assume it doesn't happen up in Auck?

It is on the surface of the road here,it might have started in the cracks or pebbles!

It is actually amazing where lichen can grow. For example colour steel roofs.

1127782 2010-08-15 09:03:00 There is a variety of lichen that grows in grey feathery clumps on trees in the bush.
It is supposed to contain a coagulent which helps to stop bleeding. I've used it many a time as a wound pad, seems to work.
It was used by Maori to treat wounds so we were told by an old bushman.
