1127716 2010-08-14 20:30:00 Yes I appreciate the obvious answer is when they don't hold a charge but . . . . . .

Rechargeables claim to be good for hundreds of charges . However in my experience this is questionable . The ones I've tried become useless after two or less years intermittent use .

My use of batteries - apart from the remote control :D - is in digital cameras and the odd torch . These items are used occasionally, sometimes sitting on a shelf for two months . Then I find the batteries can barely function .

Any thoughts?

Winston,

You need to use them, or regularly (Every month) COMPLETLY flatten and recharge them SLOWLY .

Good quality batteries, and a good quality SLOW charger will help to rectify this problem .

I use rechargeables in many devices and have them last for YEARS but I ALWAYS keep a spare set of throw aways around so as not to get caught out as, I have experienced your problem and cured it .

1127720 2010-08-14 22:54:00 One of my battery charged toothbrushes lasted for 5 years before it needed to be replaced. Another 3 years and the last one only 2 years. All the same brand, I guess if they make them too good we don't go and buy another. :annoyed: Marnie (4574)

1127722 2010-08-15 08:33:00 When they fail to hold a charge as long as before you will usually notice.

Or, if they start leaking (though I've only had that happen with some that were over 8 years old)

The ones that don't hold a charge that well I use in my clock...

Um, very weirdly.

I'm in a senior position on a $6m project, do not yet know if its good or bad, or if it has the prospect of being long term, so much is going on within the company its a bit of a worry. Things could change drastically in an instant, in fact I have seen the career of the most senior member of the team get crushed in a single meeting.
