| 1171198 | 2011-01-20 08:13:00 | Dear all, My laptop's CD drive is unable to read any CDs. Whenever I load a CD into the tray, Windows would say something along the line that the CD is unformatted and therefore cannot be read. However, the CDs that I have tried are known to work on other computers. The odd thing is that the CD drive is still able to burn files and folders onto blank CDs. I had tried blowing gently across the tray's head prior to loading any CD, but that did not resolve the problem. The laptop's model number is ASUS K50IJ. I was hoping to update the drivers for the CD drive by downloading the latest version from the ASUS website, but it seems that no drivers have been made available. Same problem occurs with safe mode. Cheers :) |

| 1171202 | 2011-01-20 08:33:00 | I used Windows 7's built-in burning program. This trick seems to have fixed the problem: support.microsoft.com Thanks a lot Speedy for taking your time to reply the posts in this thread :) |
