1171234 2011-01-19 23:23:00 Whats the specs of this system?? And the OS on it? Does it say the name of a file / driver? Will it boot into windows? If it does, WHEN does it crash? You may have to take ownership of it
if you've put it in another system.

1171238 2011-01-20 21:34:00 Update:
I used Hirens BootCD, TestDisk to restore the partition.
I then took the hdd out attached to another computer & was able to retrieve the data - which is great.

Now - put the hdd back in rebooted pressing Alt+F10 to enter the Acer eRecovery Management.
ran the process to restore to Factory default settings
rebooted: No operating system found!

Hmmmm
any idea's?

1171239 2011-01-20 21:35:00 Is the other partition on it? Connect it to another PC and see if its there. Burn the ISO, if its there. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1171240 2011-01-20 21:39:00 The other partition meaning the restore partition?
If yep will give it a try - I am running the complete restore again - if that fails I will do what you suggested & report back.

1171241 2011-01-20 22:03:00 No .iso

I have backed up the drivers.
Maybe just use the Vista DVD & reinstall.
Your thoughts

Have the following directories:
Acer
Book
Elements
MSOCache
Patch
Perflog
Program Files
ProgramData
Users
Windows

and these files:
Autoexe
bootsect...
config
patch.rev

1171242 2011-01-20 22:42:00 You'll have to reinstall everything else. Depending on HOW or what you used to backup the drivers, you may have to get the install files for them as well. Before you reformat / reinstall Windows (put them on a flash drive or something. Otherwise you may not get on the net, if you do it after). Show all / system files on the restore partition, the files on it are probably hidden Speedy Gonzales (78)
