1172353 2011-01-25 01:57:00 hello all, im back from aussie in one piece.

anyway, the issue at hand.

whilst still in brisbane about 3 days ago my brother was playing a game on his PSP, the following day he turned it on and the screen showed up like this www.imagef1.net.nz

as far as i am aware he hasnt dropped it onto a hard surface of any kind so is slightly puzzeling.

im thinking the lcd has simply failed, the connection to the screen has failed or the screen has cracked.

PSP's a couple years old btw.

cheers

1172354 2011-01-25 02:02:00 A rapid change in temp could have done that, was it in luggage on the plane, gets cold down there. DeSade (984)
1172355 2011-01-25 02:02:00 looks like a cracked screen. Pressure on the screen might not break the cover but it could easily shatter the lcd itself.

edit - yes, or that ^^

we were in sydney for 4 days , he and i played it and had no issues.

it was with the carry-on baggage with us on the plane.

1172357 2011-01-25 02:07:00 There could be 100 different causes, maybe a better question is what to do about it.

It might have been sat on, bag might have been dropped on it, number of reasons.

1172358 2011-01-25 02:16:00 i wouldnt think it would be worthwhile to repair(if possible) GameJunkie (72)
1172359 2011-01-25 02:25:00 Something has been pressing on the screen in one point and cracked it.
My phone has done the similar thing couple of weeks back.
Had it in my pocket with car keys, lay down on the couch and heard the "crack" The result - Bugger (www.imagef1.net.nz(Large).JPG)

1172360 2011-01-25 02:31:00 I have a hard case for mine, prevents anything like this. Something to consider should you replace it.

Heh now I think about it I haven't used mine in years lol.

1172361 2011-01-25 02:42:00 we do have a case for it, but the pressing on the screen may have caused it by the sounds of it

cheers

1172362 2011-01-25 11:03:00 That crack is very defined. I'd say it was a small hard object about fingernail sized. The way the cracks spider-web out like that also suggest that the damaging object was rounded.

Usually cracks caused in luggage are large splits which segment the screen into two or three. this is more of a crush.

if you want to fix, check trademe for similar items: www.trademe.co.nz or if you don't want to spend $75 look for a PSP that was bricked by a failed flash or doesn't read disks. generally people put them up cheap like RROD 360's. I buy the 360's for parts or resale after fixing them.
