| 1172061 | 2011-01-24 02:34:00 | Mobo is ASUS P5Q Pro . Just noticed only 2GB RAM is registered (should be 2 X 2GB - matched pair) . No idea how long this has been the case! SIW only saw RAM in slot 1 so I re-seated the slot 2 stick . No change . Removed both sticks and put the slot 2 one into slot 1 . Worked . So, stick not crook! Put the slot 1 one into slot 2 and both are now seen! So the fix was to swap their slots . Weird . Guess there is some logic to this . |

| 1172062 | 2011-01-24 02:38:00 | could be the slot was just not making contact properly and taking the RAM in and out a couple of times sorted it out. I'd be curious if swapping it back still only gave 2G but since it's now working probably not a good Idea | dugimodo (138) | ||
| 1172063 | 2011-01-24 06:14:00 | Keep checking that it is seeing the correct amount of ram each time you start it, I have a Sony Vaio that I upgraded to 500meg, 2 X 256meg and it sometimes sees 256 sometimes 500, fairly sure ram not faulty, since either will work reliably as 256. Has latest BIOS. I also have a computer which I have put on one side for a while because of other faults but it has this exact read/not read ram fault as well, both running XP. |
