1172064 2011-01-24 02:24:00 Hi all, my CD stacker in the car has an error, a quick fix would be to just forget about it and use my iPhone for music etc....I have seen these on trade-me and wonder if anyone has tried them.
The Apple shop here reckons he can get a more sophisticated version with local GPS to fix FM frequency shift, however $40 version $130 apple and $168 DSE doesnt sound to bad....

Looking for opinions...

1172065 2011-01-24 02:33:00 I haven't tried these but I have tried a couple of FM transmitters in the past. I like the convenience but on a good system there is a noticeable drop in quality with the ones I had.

Still the radio sounds ok so it should be possible. On a side note I managed to tune mine in from about 75 metres away in a friends car if you ever feel like sharing music in a convoy :)

1172066 2011-01-24 07:09:00 FM transmitters can be a pain when travelling intercity because radio stations in different regions use different frequencies, so you can end up having to search for a new clear channel each time you travel to a new city.
I'm guessing that's what the local GPS is about.

1172067 2011-01-24 07:24:00 I got myself something like this back when I had my iPhone:
jonvy.co.nz

Was the model beneath it with a slightly different GUI, but anyway long story short, it was great because I could charge AND listen to music through the iPod interface, and controlling the iPhone directly through the much larger touchscreen buttons was a definite plus! Also means you can use navigation on the iPod screen while still quickly changing songs etc :)
