Not really thoughts, more like questions -- Reading the replies, two stand out. 1.this wont last long ps3 will update this within days. if you buy this and update your ps3 past 3.41 your screwed. 2.Can i get banned off PSN for this ? No doubt Sony can detect a jailbreaked PS3 - and when they ban the person /unit -- its screwed for online. |

PS Jailbreak disables forced software updates and will never brick your console. I'm not sure about getting banned from PSN, might just have to wait and see. Edit: It says on their website that it doesn't modify your ps3 permanently and the jailbreak is disabled upon removing the usb dongle, so possibly sony may not be able to detect it/do anything about it. |

| 1130606 | 2010-08-24 04:43:00 | Potential Bans (www.ps3hax.net) While we are all up and excited about PSJailbreak (PSjb), there might be a risk on playing with PSjb on PSN. According to SKFUand RichDevX, the Backup manager game ID (LAUN-12345) could be logged/recorded by Sony when logged into PSN (when online). This would obviously allow Sony to see who would be using the illegal PSjb/clone and we could very well see ban waves similar to the Xbox 360. Although ways around this may be coming soon. |

| 1130608 | 2010-08-24 13:54:00 | Check this out, found out how to use this modchip here [edited] looks pretty simple to use. seems its not as you described, although the modchip does leave a fingerprint it can easily be removed for the psnetwok use They are pretty expenisive though. i asked him if he could do them cheaper and he said yes so thats a bonus. |

I strongly suggest you man up and take your punishment if you want to be welcomed back (although I doubt that will happen anyway). Back OT, I'll admit I'm a little unfamiliar with the PS3 internals, software-wise, but I'm assuming that the backup manager is some sort of homebrew-style app, and the USB dongle is what lets it execute, instead of being blocked by the frimware. If so, could you make other apps and run them with this chip? |
