2011-01-23 23:39:00 | Not really, I only just realized today that we didn't have one this month, I've been flat out and completely forgotten about it. Working weekends for the rest of the month anyway. | wratterus (105) | |

2011-01-24 02:48:00 | I've used both TomTom and Navman and they're both good, if at all possible I would highly recommend going to your local Dick Smiths and taking a look at the display models - it can be hard to gauge how big they are from a website (and how the interface works etc) but you may find when looking at one physically one or two will jump out at you as suitable, and from there pick one that suits your budget A mate of mine recently got this one and it's very easy to use: www.dse.co.nz ...but I stress don't just buy online without seeing it first, you can usually walk into a store and try them Personally I would go with a dedicated unit yeah, I don't know if it would an issue if you're using GPS on an iPhone and the phone rings...?? Also make sure you can easily take the unit off the holder when the car is parked, all it takes is for one unscrupulous individual to see it on your dash and bam - window broken, GPS gone :( umm...fair enough...i was just gonna go on pricespy then buy online, but yeah you are right, I can't really tell how big they are until I see it in person. I clicked on your link, it took me to dse but I don't c a GPS on it?? Thanks for your info :D

2011-01-24 02:52:00 | All GPS are easy to use etc . . if you don't get into the other features . Set you destination and just follow it . . . Re: the map updates . Forget it . Roads don't change often . If you wanna know, Navman historically has been the more stingy one in terms of free map updates . With the other 2 and Uniden you may get Australia for free too and some free map updates for just a year or two . That's all . This arn't Windows Updates . If you want more you have to pay for updates . When I bought my Navman a few yrs ago, I got nothing for free . I heard that now some Navman customers have problems getting their updates that they were promised . PS . If you are into using your maps with other GPS units in NZ or overseas . Navman is harder to work . Ie . , Navman only allows you to buy a map and it is activiated on that (1) device . You need the internet for that . If you bought a USA map you cannot put that simcard into someone's GPS cos it won't register . Nor can you swap them if you had like 2 Navmans . Come to think of it, true, roads don't change that often :P I an not aware of the fact that Navman work like that, so probably will avoid it then . . . Thanks for the info :D

2011-01-24 02:54:00 | So what are you coming down to sunny Nelson to do? Steal our women? | gary67 (56) | |
2011-01-24 02:55:00 | Lucky you! I'm so jealous . Husband likes his Navman but the non-free maps annoys me a bit . At $129 - might as well just buy another GPS . . . . thanks :D I was lucky to get that job :D I thought you get a free map update period when you buy GPS, apparently not . . . .
