1130071 2010-08-21 02:17:00 I don't consider having to wait 20 mins excellent service.
Perhaps you don't, but they have always been helpful...I had Slingshot before them, never again.

1130072 2010-08-21 02:42:00 I am one of the people pctek is talking about, never had an issue with xnet speeds

1130073 2010-08-21 02:53:00 Slingshot has free downloads between 2am and 8am, check with them to see if uploading is counted too, if you dont have a problem with scheduling most of your uploads to those off-peak times.

The fastest upload speed would be fibre to the door, ofcourse :D *drool*

1130074 2010-08-21 03:29:00 If you have the option of TelstraClear cable in your area, then that's the winner. My typical upload rate is usually pretty much on the advertised 2Mbps (just did Speedtest.net - 7.15Mbps down/1.83Mbps up).

Apart from a few random disconnection hiccups in the first month I went onto cable, the service hasn't disconnected since - a couple of years now of rock-solid broadband. So must admit I haven't had the opportunity to deal with their customer support for a while - but at least they can't pass the buck onto Telecom if they operate the cable...

1130075 2010-08-21 07:15:00 Xnet used to be one of the top recommendations around here, now it's avoid avoid avoid.

Switched from Xnet to Slingshot. Loving it.

1130076 2010-08-21 07:29:00 Now the majority of the torrenting riff-raff are off Xnet, it is great. Always been pretty good here though.

If you feel really foolish, go to Xtra and prove it. ;-)

1130077 2010-08-21 12:08:00 xnet have the worst record for throughput of any ISP, and the helpdesk / customer service of telstraclear is bad, it's never less than a 45 minute wait, and I'm not exaggerating.. check you can get ADSL2+ by going to telecomwholesale.co.nz

:pf1mobmini:

Just wondering what you mean Xnet and throughput being the worst?

I am currently using them and they have had their problems, but they are currently OK, although I am always looking at better options. I think many of the high users went from xnet to telecoms big time plan, which is why xnet has improved. Now they are searching for another, and are looking at slingshot and worldnet who are the only ones who now have unlimted pans, just hope they don't return to xnet.

1130078 2010-08-21 12:26:00 You may be right. When it comes to the high-volume plans, it really is a moving target ...
