1129155 2010-08-18 22:12:00 Beware matey, once you've built one you will have the itch to build more.

It's a two sided thing. The manufacturers have sorted out the really painful side to the tech, so on one hand you can argue that the task is as easy as just slapping together parts.
On the other hand you have to apply the study needed to determine the best combination of components (not everyone bothers with that and they just think any mix of RAM can be shoved in) which ultimately is what makes the difference between a hack and a system builder... and once you do know your stuff it almost is as easy as slapping bits together (not that I have any current knowledge re CPU, MoBo, or RAM - but I certainly respect those that do know).

1129156 2010-08-18 22:26:00 I remember my first build, was so dam nervous took me an hour to build it with fresh parts, now building a system takes 10-15 minutes then the install on top of that nedkelly (9059)

1129159 2010-08-25 09:33:00 Welcome to the club jd.. I've played around, a little bit, with computers for years, but only built a completely new one recently. But you are well ahead of me, as I will be 70 next birthday! PPp (9511)
