I had a problem with a weak signal (upstairs) from a modem/wireless router situated in the basement with the desk top computers. I had a spare wireless router so I set them up with the same frequency, name and security number and plugged the WR into the MWR. Much to my surprise, the signal is seen as a single one and very strong!
Has anyone else done this? |

I've heard of using wifi routers as repeaters for a main one, maybe that's what happened? |

Yes, but it may not hand off well as you try and roam between them .... |

This arrangement is called an extended service set. You only need to have the same SSID, the channel should be different for best performance. |
