1129346 2010-08-19 02:39:00 How odd - normally it's the person with a parachute - never seen a plane use one before..... pctek (84)
1129347 2010-08-19 03:04:00 They are becoming more common www.brsparachutes.com

You still need to activate them. One report on the stunt pilot had him suggesting that he needed reminding by someone yelling on the radio.

1129348 2010-08-19 03:17:00 Thanks for sharing that Trev.
Those type of parachutes are becoming more common on light aircraft and have already saved lives.
Have seen videos of them being tested but that is the first real one. Very lucky guy I reckon. Without the chute he may not have had time to jump and use his personal chute which he should have had with him as it is a law in most places when doing aerobatics. (Note, us pilots object to the term stunts that the media insist on using)
Lucky too the rotating remains of thre aircraft didnt tangle the cords.

1129349 2010-08-19 03:48:00 Not a problem. I had a plane in Flight Simulator 2004 with a chute attached to the fuselage, it was called a Cirrus SR20. Here. (cirrusaircraft.com)
