1173939 2011-01-31 01:09:00 I can get a EVGA over clock 1gb 460 GTX for $319 + shipping or a Asus GTX 465 for $360 + shipping. Which should I get? also what is the ATI equivalent is it a 6870? and if i have a nVidia chipset should I stick with a nVidia GFX card? icow (15313)
1173940 2011-01-31 01:16:00 460 is the sweet spot for this range of cards, best bang for the buck.
Don't bother with the 465 or 470, price to power is not worth it.

1173941 2011-01-31 01:21:00 Are the performance gains in a 465 noticeable (I honestly don't care about the extra $40 dollars)? Also I have heard that the gtx 465 might be discontinued? Does anyone know the power consumption difference (psu watts wise)? icow (15313)
1173942 2011-01-31 01:25:00 The gains are minimal, I did a lot of research when I brought mine and the gains on the 470 are not enough to make it worth while.

If your considerate of price buy the 460, if not get the 580 (was 480 but now the 5 is out why go lower)

1173944 2011-01-31 01:40:00 I wouldn't touch ATI again, but thats a personal choice. DeSade (984)
1173945 2011-01-31 09:15:00 Will go the way of the gtx460. Cost less and requires 100w (minimum) out of the psu. icow (15313)
1173946 2011-01-31 21:25:00 The 465 is a bit of a fail, it generally gets beaten by the GTX460 1GB both at stock.

I would go GTX460 1GB with a good custom cooler with factory OC, and OC it more like...

EVGA is a good brand but the one your looking at prob only has a reference cooler.

The ATI6870 is also a good choice, half dozen of one 6 of the other.
