| 1132258 | 2010-08-27 22:16:00 | Hmmm, interesting. Yesterday my Vodafone account page was unavailable for a while "because of an exchange upgrade". When it came back, I found that my upload speed had gone from 132kbps max to 500-600kbps. In fact sometimes my upload speed is better than my download speed! Also my ping has come down from roughly 75ms to roughly 58ms. I'm not complaining - far from it! I'm just wondering if this is part of my general upgrade to being ADSL2+ capable. They have been laying what looks like fibre all the way up West Coast Road, presumably to the Waiatarua exchange. |

| 1132259 | 2010-08-27 22:20:00 | The speed symptoms sound like it may have been an upgrade, however if that were the case, your router would have dropped off the 'net for a little bit and then when it came back it'd be faster... Check: telecomwholesale.co.nz Put your address in, and see when they're upgrading the exchange / roadside cabinet near you :) |

| 1132267 | 2010-08-28 19:59:00 | The most recent improvement (to the upload speed) happened a couple of days ago - when I made the original post. According to the map: This address is scheduled to be connected to a roadside cabinet using faster broadband equipment (ADSL2+ technology) by Dec 2011 However the map also shows I am within the exchange coverage. It says the exchange is due to be upgraded by Sep 2011. I am picking it might be earlier than that. I did see a list once showing all the exchanges and their dates, and Waiatarua was dead last! |
