| 1174047 | 2011-01-31 21:40:00 | I wouldnt do HD on a screen smaller than 24", the text pitch is just too small...... | SolMiester (139) | ||

I'd respectfully disagree, the 460 can handle pretty much every game currently out there, on pretty much max settings, at 1920x1080 at good FPS. It's a personal preference, of course, but 1600x900 feels so low res and cramped, I could never recommend anyone buy a new monitor these days that only supports that res. 1680x1050 is OK, but personally I can't use anything less than 1920x1080 for gaming anymore lol. |

Gaming is different mate, Im talking text pitch size...21.5 viewable for 19 x 10 is horrible. And while the 460 is quite a powerful card, its memory bandwidth hurts it at HD, see for yourself...34FPS isnt a comfortable speed for shooters or racing..amd there is no leeway for future games.... www.anandtech.com |

And to be fair I've never used my 460 at the reference clocks (only OC'd), but 35fps is about the minimum I get in any current FPS/racer/RPG. I get averages about 65fps in Mass Effect 2, BF:BC2 about 50fps, Crysis/Warhead about 40fps, NFS Hot Pursuit about 60fps and Rift about 40fps. While I don't have full eyecandy on for all of them, they're also certainly far from turned down ;) Certainly there are better cards than the 460, and if I were to go any higher than 1920x1080 I'd look at something like a 6970 or 580, but it's still a fantastic card up to and including 1920x1080 on a budget. |
