2011-01-31 08:10:00 | I will be going through Pahiatua on my way from Masterton to PN later on next week and could set it all up for her and then the senior net people could probably give her the odd bit of advice. Pahiatua is about 20 to 30 minutes from Palmerston North. Give me a PM if you are interested.

2011-01-31 08:39:00 | My brother did a similar thing for my mum in the uk. She found windows too much of a pain with all the nags & balloons etc. He ended up installing ubuntu, turned the updates off, shortcuts to the things she needs on the desktop & she loves it (she's 79) My brother updates it for her whenever he's at her place, normally a few times a month. Just thought I'd throw that in | Phil B (648) | |

2011-01-31 09:36:00 | And I dont need IDIOT answers either from twits who dont know what service actually is. Some older people are actually easier to teach, as they know what respect is and are willing to be taught. Not like some smart arse that thinks they know it all. Hmmmm, LOL WT, no need for the cat calls, I have been in IT service since 92, I dont understand where you get smart arse from, just because I believe teaching old people a nightmare?....Im not a consultant because I believe I know it all, though quite what knowing it all has to do with teaching simple computer operation, I dont know.... Anybody can be a hardware technician or a simple trainer! Go take your meds mate!

2011-01-31 09:50:00 | @ SolMeister. In MY opinion there was no need for your first post in this thread if you did not want to help or can't help. Last time I saw Wainuitech he was not on meds and I don't think he needs same. :stare:

2011-01-31 09:55:00 | Well Sol, you must have had a bad day, -- I never said you were a smart arse. Read that again. Its easier teaching someone who knows nothing and is willing to learn, than a person who thinks they know it all, and thinks they cant be taught anything. Mind you, with being a consultant, you will come across all types of people when doing consultancy work, old, young people, with and without knowledge. Just because you don't like helping older people - many others do. Didn't you learn to respect older people. I really feel sorry for you -- I just hope when you get old like the people you hate teaching, someone will help you when its needed. Theres an old saying - no one knows everything - only an idiot thinks they do.
