| 1173619 | 2011-01-30 00:19:00 | My WD Black TB HDD has developed issues and I've just cloned it to my new Seagate 1 TB HDD. Restarted Win 7 and MS poped up a window saying that my Windows is not Genuine! What the &*^% is this? What shall I do next? |

| 1173623 | 2011-01-30 02:01:00 | I restarted Windows and checked the activation status again and found that it is now ACTIVATED! I presume, I need not do anything now, right? Looks like WD Black HDD is really hopeless, my new Seagate runs really quiet - I could hardly hear it spinning. :) Wainutech, what do you think I should do with this WD HDD as the WD diagnostic tool found nothing wrong with the drive? The problems with this WD are: 1. The noise is getting louder and louder. 2. Intermittently fails to launch program and some programs hanged. Those symptoms were very similar to my previous failed WD Green HDD - about a year ago. |

| 1173624 | 2011-01-30 02:21:00 | WD had trouble with the adaptor a couple of years back, our 750 gig failed and it was replaced with 3 instead of the 5 chord, the latter causing all the probs. NL even transferred all of the data over too, they had a 5 pin that still worked. lol. Lurking. |

RMA the WD drive, I don't like the WD diagnostic much, even the new Seagate one doesn't work for all drive problems. If it's noisy and you have problems, that's enough for me. |

Lost confidence in the Black from this experience of mine and Wainu's experiences and also from your previous link about the high failure rate of the Blacks. Should I request for a Blue replacement instead? |

Should I request for a Blue replacement instead? Thats what I did with the ones I had that were giving problems.. Thing is though, I got them Via a NZ Supplier - Not from a normal shop, so they may not be so helpful. One in particular - I said it was getting louder with every use, and causing intermittent problems , even though it passed the WD test -- they changed it no problems / Questions. |
