1174948 2011-02-03 05:58:00 My pc has started making a high pitched sound. Could it be loose bearings in the fans? I don't think it is the psu as then the sound would be constant? This happens normally when opening/loading files, and surfing the internet (especially images on trademe). What can I do?

BTW also happens pretty much whenever i click on anything on the internet.

1174949 2011-02-03 06:03:00 Open the case and see where its coming from Speedy Gonzales (78)
1174950 2011-02-03 06:09:00 I can here the sound all the time with the side off but it gets louder when I do stuff (click, scroll etc). I'll turn it off and unplug the case fan and see if it fixes. icow (15313)
1174951 2011-02-03 06:13:00 Ok, still making sound and louder than ever. The case fan must have been drowing it out . It's not the cpu fan as it still whines when that is stopped. So psu or the actual motherboard.

What do you think speedy?

1174952 2011-02-03 06:15:00 It could be something in the PSU. The mobo isnt loose is it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1174953 2011-02-03 06:19:00 will check. people on other forums say sometimes psu's whine just before the die. It was a Chinese-branded psu that i was going to replace anyway. If it is the psu I'll contact the Elive and see what they can do about warranty. icow (15313)
1174954 2011-02-03 06:23:00 When you say "loose" I assume you mean physically. If so no it's not.

btw psu has 3 year warranty so if it's the psu I'm covered.

1174955 2011-02-03 06:28:00 Also awhile ago my pc died (power) for no reason. I'm guessing that is linked to this. icow (15313)
1174956 2011-02-03 06:30:00 The PSU's probably died, if youre using crappy PSU's Speedy Gonzales (78)
1174957 2011-02-03 07:30:00 Locate sound with cardboard tube. PPp (9511)
