| 1174755 | 2011-02-02 22:11:00 | On my laptop I have installed Windows XP Home and Ubuntu 10.10 Yesterday I hibernated the Windows XP (as I have done without problem in the past) and put the laptop away. This morning when I started it up, it would complete the POST, beep, flash a cursor and then the screen would flicker and it would restart, ad infinitum. First thought was "oh, **** - hardware failure" but now I don't think so. I am running a LiveCD of Ubuntu right now, everything works but it seems that it just can't load GRUB or something. How can I go about trying to find out what is wrong and how can I fix it? I don't know too much about GRUB, especially when something goes wrong. |

| 1174757 | 2011-02-02 23:25:00 | Fixed. 1) Booted the installed Ubuntu using Super Grub2 Disk 2) Repaired GRUB2 by running "sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc" as described here: ubuntuforums.org Unfortunately I don't know what the actual problem was, but at least it's working now. |
