| 1174537 | 2011-02-02 02:54:00 | 4yr ago I had ADSL1 - Linksys WAG54G which worked pretty good then it failed. DSL blinks but Internet light never comes on. After a few hassles, we just went to DSE and bought a D-Link DSL-2730B, which is ADSL2+, works pretty good when we got it but now most times takes up to 5 or 10mins to get a connection. I turn it off overnight. The connection however is fast, 14-16Mbit line speed, I get a tested 12Mbit and it is very stable. Would yo take it back? Or would you just live with it as exchange or refund is pass the 2 weeks since purchase and that I would have a few weeks on dialup speed. Maybe just put the modem in a common room and leave it on 24/7 and use wireless instead? :thanks |

| 1174539 | 2011-02-02 05:52:00 | I will try the modem at a diff place. This will work right even if the place has not registered for Internet? It is capable though. 2 weeks it the money back gaurantee. Not sure what they do after this, I might be left without a BB modem so I may need to go back to dialup for a few weeks till whenever they return my modem repaired or exchanged. |

| 1174540 | 2011-02-04 05:40:00 | I have bought a lot of stuff from Dick Smith. I have never had any warranty hassles with them, they have always replaced the item. They usually have a 12 month warranty period, and in any case you are covered by the Fair Trading Act which states that a product must perform as intended by the manufacturer. (this does not include miss-use by the purchaser). I think your problem is at the ISP server end, as the performance is good once it logs on. Who is your ISP? Is the modem set to Dynamic IP (DHCP) or Manual? Usually DHCP is best. Also make sure that you have NZ settings, some Modems default to Australian settings. I have had D-Links overheating, but this is not the case this time. |

| 1174541 | 2011-02-04 05:45:00 | I am with Actrix ISP. My modem I am pretty sure DHCP, I hate manual. Plus all business use DHCP. Well I think it's DHCP cos I didn't change it and I wouldn't know off the top of my head how to set up manual. Yeah it's got NZ location on it and time/date etc. Nah .. not overheating cos it happens first thing in the morning, I turn it off at night. Well today it just came on instantly after bootup .. |
