1174147 2011-02-01 01:04:00 I am using a Sony Vio. Just recently Windows 7 started shutting down the computor after approx. 30 mins. I have run the Vio diagnostics which indicates that all the hardware (hard drive and memory) is running correctly. I am able to run Norton Antivirus - Quick Scan O.K. but if I try a full system scan the scan gets so far and then the system shuts down.
Suggestions please.

1174148 2011-02-01 01:08:00 Is it a proper windows shutdown or is the pc abruptly powering down (ie not shutting down but simply turning off)? if it's the former I have no Idea but if it's the latter perhaps the laptop is overheating due to dust or fluff accumulating in the heatsinks etc or something similar. dugimodo (138)

Remove Nortons.
Install proper antivirus software and do another scan.
NOD32 or MS Security Essentials.

In addition install Spybot and either Malware Bytes or Superantispyware.

PC simply turns off. I have just been running the PC ( the Sony) for approx. 2 hrs with no problem until I tried running NAV full scan - scanned some 8000 files and suddenly turned off!!

1174154 2011-02-01 03:03:00 Sounds like overheating to me, unless you have a corrupted service.. SolMiester (139)
