1133331 2010-08-31 04:13:00 whats the difference??

The $60 one is 150GB peak, 350GB off-peak, the $70 one is 500GB anytime. Both plans are shaped to 1mbps up/down if cap is exceeded.

1133332 2010-08-31 05:00:00 Sure wish we had something like that here, and the likes of Slingshots new plan doesn't count ;) Chilling_Silence (9)
1133333 2010-08-31 06:07:00 Shaped, peak, whatever, I haven't seen too many 500Gb plans in in NZ........ pctek (84)
1133334 2010-09-01 09:18:00 And will we get this sort of deal if UFB goes ahead?

Of course not - the government should be supporting another submarine cable to the USA instead.

1133335 2010-09-01 10:28:00 Well I'm getting ready to set up broadband, and the telecom tech (also a PC tech - as we got off track discussing about dozens of PC issues/hardware/freeware/etc ) told me, that they had to shut some "unlimited" plan recently. Apparently people got greedy, downloading 24/7 all day which somehow affected the load for every body. So I think the higher the bandwidth, won't that affect a fair load or speed, etc, for everybody?

He also said that those ISP 's that offer more bandwidth, may not be offering "true" broadband.

Yes, Telecom did close the Bigtime plan but totally unnecessarily.
All they had to do was to remind the greedy people about the fine print clause covering "fair use" and everyone else would have been happy.
But no, Telecom demonstrated again why they are lousy at providing/running a service.
