What is your confusion?

"In cases where it is possible to run new cables, it can be advantageous to split the telephone line after it enters the home, installing a single DSL filter on one leg and running it to every jack in the home where an analog device will be in use, and dedicating the other (unfiltered) leg to the DSL modem. "

Of course the "splitter" has to contain a filter, it's the separation of the data and voice wiring afterwards that counts as the split.

1132943 2010-08-31 23:19:00 If you have a splitter you cannot move the modem?? That would suck wouldnt it? Gobe1 (6290)

Why would you want to move it? Use a LAN if you want the connection somewhere else.

1132945 2010-08-31 23:44:00 Then you would have another cable to run... Gobe1 (6290)
1132946 2010-08-31 23:55:00 You'd have to run a new phone extension cable anyway if you wanted to move the router Agent_24 (57)

1132948 2010-09-01 07:44:00 Does every jack point including the one for Sky have a filter?
Is the modem plugged into the phone or ADSL part of the filter?
