1176351 2011-02-08 20:17:00 No idea how, but it landed back on my pc and I noticed it after restarting for the latest batch of windows updates.

Malware bytes has nabbed it after running it as admin, but the question remains as to how it got back in.

I'm running norton, which says it's trusted (f*cking annoying), and I can't seem to change that save from quarantining every single file in the folder next time it comes along.

I guess I'm looking for a more preventative measure than a way to solve it.

Any ideas?
I also have MWB antimalware (love it) and SBot S & D. Perhaps I should run the S & D teatimer or whatever?

1176352 2011-02-08 20:20:00 Why are you running Norton? Ditch it and get NOD32, or at the least MSSE.

Malwarebytes is my pick for anti spyware software, don't really like spybot anymore, and especially not the tea timer.

1176353 2011-02-08 20:31:00 I'm running norton because I have done since 2003 and it's generally been alright. When my subscription runs out I might reconsider, if it does too much more of this.

But ok, I guess I'll just keep nabbing it with MWB as it pops up until I find a a way to stop it from being installed or running in the first place. Apparently it's user installed but I haven't found it attached to anything, nor have I exactly installed questionable software as of late.

1176354 2011-02-08 20:46:00 Norton is rubbish. :badpc:

This is just one example - NIS 2009 fully updated, just scanned and reckons the PC is clean. It's dripping with malware, to the point of constant popups and hijacked desktop background. This is just one I've managed to take a few screenshots of, there have been many others, and others can attest to that too.

Not to mention how system heavy it is.

1176355 2011-02-08 21:06:00 lol what?
That's ridiculous. Truly ridiculous.
I've never experienced anything like that, this is pretty much the first thing that's ever gotten through for me.

1176356 2011-02-08 21:08:00 Get teamviewer if you want. I can have a look from here. And put ccleaner on the hdd, if its not on there yet Speedy Gonzales (78)
1176357 2011-02-08 21:14:00 I did manage to get rid of it, using MWB speedy. This time I want to know if there's anything I can do to stop it coming back, using norton or windows or some other program, since I've already gotten rid of it once before now and can't be assed dealing with it every time it pops up.
Norton's done a good job with everything else so far, I have no idea as to why it's let this through.

And I do have CCleaner, I use it a fair bit :)

1176358 2011-02-08 21:23:00 Is new.net in add/remove programs or whatever version of windows is installed. If it is, uninstall it Speedy Gonzales (78)
1176359 2011-02-08 21:27:00 Nope, not in windows or CCleaner. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
