| 1176321 | 2011-02-08 19:13:00 | I have a motherboard with a bad capacitor - leaking from the top. Someone suggested that I have a new capacitor installed. I wanted to ask - is that method of repair recommended? It would seem to me if there is one bad capacitor there will be more - even if they aren't leaking. Your thoughts / experience please. Thank you. |

Chances are that you have several bad caps, not just the obvious leaky one. either run the PC till it dies-dont expect it to be reliable , or replace it. If you want a cheap & nasty repair, cut the cap in half pull the caps case off carefully & you will have 2 wires left sticking out of the board to solder to. Ordinary caps will work , just not recommended |
