2011-02-07 22:35:00 | Hi there: Have an HP Mininote with a built in cellular modem (no T-stick or Vodem required). It works with Vodafone if I put a Vodafone Sim in. When I put an XT sim in it picks it up and just doesn't connect. The device does have the correct frequencies built in. I have heard suggestions that when presented with an XT SIM that it automatically loads some firmware which gets in the way of connecting to Telecom. Telecom are my preferred provider as their data plan suits my needs better. Any ideas anyone? Thanks Scott

2011-02-08 00:10:00 | By correct frequencies do you mean GSM on 850 or 3G on 850. People get confused with the two.. Telecom only does 3G on 850 Meg no GSM.. | paulw (1826) | |
2011-02-08 00:39:00 | You need to make sure they APN setting is in, which is internet.telecom.co.nz, no username/password. | Alex B (15479) | |

Showing these on the Telecom website compatibility checker. One puts the IMEI number in and it correctly recognises the device and tells me that my netbook operates on the following frequencies: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MH WCDMA 850/1900/2100MHz |

2011-02-19 11:11:00 | What fault finding have you done since your first post. None since first post. Done quite a bit before I even posted. Still looks like the modem when presented with an XT Sim loads the wrong firmware which lets one see the XT Network but not connect. What else would you suggest trying?
