1175925 2011-02-08 06:03:00 I will need to try nslookup and pinging the DNS server when it happens, but for the rest, setting my own DNS server does nothing to fix the problem(including using opendns ones). Question (15792)
1175926 2011-02-18 12:44:00 Okay, this just happened again.

Nslookup timed out in 2 seconds.

Ipconfig didnt list any connection specific DNS address, even though i had specified one for my connection.

Any ideas?
Question (15792)
1175927 2011-02-18 18:38:00 When this happens, can you ping your DNS server? Such as OpenDNS or GoogleDNS?
Have you checked for Malware with Malwarebytes and done an online NOD32 (eset) virus scan since this started happening?
Do you have another computer that you can connect up and check to see if the same results happen, so we can rule out it being PC-specific?

I still think that wainuitech is right, I'm presuming its your PCs ability to communicate with the Modem, seeing as it's fixed by a reboot.

However, that said, I had a similar issue with Xnet where the connection would do the same sort of thing for a short period of time (2-3 minutes) and then resume again. In the end we got so fed up that we left Xnet and the problem went away instantly. We wondered why we'd put up with it for so long :p

1175928 2011-02-19 12:20:00 Ive done malware/virus scans but nto found anything.

Sincei ts pretty random, it would be pretty hard to nail it down with another computer, unless i leave it online for several days in a row.

Not sure whether i can ping the DNS server while it happens.
Question (15792)
1175929 2011-02-19 19:13:00 When it happens, try pinging:
208.67.222.222 (OpenDNS)
8.8.8.8 (Google DNS)
210.48.100.45 (PressF1)

Might pay to write those down and keep them beside your computer, and perhaps ping them *now* as you read this to make sure you've not got any firewall or anything in its way.
