1176395 2011-02-08 20:40:00 Search engine Bing gets caught. Read article here. (downloadsquad.switched.com)

Since Bing is M$, surely we PF1ers are not really surprised, are we? :groan:

1176396 2011-02-08 21:22:00 How damn stupid.

Goggle dont have sole rights over search results -- Oh do I hear unfair competition now, because other search engines are listing the same sites that google may find. Funny that, if Wikipedia have a listing on a certain subject, of course all the search engines will hit the same thing -- Thats not rocket science.
Every search provider, no matter who they are will find most of the same sites as google will.

If something is posted here in PF1 - google will find it. So will Bing, Yahoo, and many others.

For gods sake google pull your head in - what a load of crap.

1176397 2011-02-08 21:39:00 WT - not sure if you read the article? Google created fake results, which then appeared in Bing. I read the fuller article (CIO Mag I think?) which explained what Google did in full, MS got caught out big time. FAB (6923)

Nope we're sure not. When have they done anything that didn't involve copying or buying it out.

1176399 2011-02-08 21:46:00 Yeah I read the article, its still a load of rubbish. Google may have baited a few places, but at the end of the day they are simply hitting MS. Most of the search engines will find the same results as google does.

Google are no better than the rest - trust them -- Like hell. Spose every one thinks google are angels and dont reap from others as they are accusing MS for doing -- great tuis ad.

1176400 2011-02-08 21:50:00 Many other lessor online search engines, and competitive research tools, use Google's algorithms including their ad tools. But bit desperate if powerhouse Microsoft has to as well. kahawai chaser (3545)
1176401 2011-02-08 21:50:00 Kind of childish. If they were directly monitoring google's results and getting them added to their own lists, fair enough.
If they're simply adding the same search results to their own engine by getting them solo, then stuff google. I may love google but it's a very childish thing to do.

1176402 2011-02-08 23:47:00 I certainly dont trust google, but it appears MS is using google's search engine to replicate search result...and that isnt on! SolMiester (139)
1176403 2011-02-09 00:09:00 Agree SM - I don't trust Google but I don't blame them (or any company) for trying to protect their IP. FAB (6923)

Exactly. It's not that they're getting the same - genuine - results, it's that they're getting the same, intentionally-WRONG results, suggesting they are simply using google search to do their work for them without crediting.
