1459539 2019-03-28 19:49:00 Hi All

Sitting in my lazy boy just staring at thewal, rest home style. A fly landed on my arm. Slowly reached for the mortein & blasted it, it flew away thro te cloud. I settled on the tallboys. It flutterd a bit and flew around before landing in my chair arm. Second longer blast & it again flew thro the cloud landing on the wadrobe. It stayed there & I thought I had killed it. but no, itflew around the room a few times & landed on the bed. Somewhat peed off I thhrew the mortein can at the fly on the bed, it of course bounced off the bed onto the floor. Picked it up & there was the fly stuck to the spraycan.

The printing on the can says "Fast knock down" & Kills In One Spray.

Should read "Kills with one hard blow".

I really believe that flies today are immune to flyspray, seeing it as a Fly Thro Car Wash. PJ:mad:

1459540 2019-03-28 20:09:00 Well I use robocan with whatever refill is the cheapest at the supermarket and when I see a fly I know it's time to swap the can.
Maybe it's just that can of flyspray.

Three things that made a huge difference to the amount of flies I see though, first I stopped using a catcher on the lawnmower and started mulching. Never really occured to me just how much the pile of lawn clippings attracts flies.
Second I had double glazing fitted - and at the same time tinted glass that filters out UV. Turns out flies don't like that much either. Third is a little sad, the last of my dogs got too old and had to be put down so now I have no dogs.

So now even without robocan I only ever see 1 or 2 flies in the house, when I first moved in I remember the beam running through the lounge & kitchen swarming with them and having to vacuum up all the dead bodies after spraying every day

1459541 2019-03-28 20:28:00 They are.
It's Pyrethrum, a fairly useless poison anyway, although it's bad for pets.

And they are resistant to it now.

My mum sits in her chair with a plastic fly swat, she's gotten rather accurate, kills loads all day....

1459542 2019-03-28 20:30:00 I like your style PJ :)
I believe that some flies become immune to whatever spray you have been using for a while and a change of brand is a good idea from time to time. Your direct action certainly does the trick though.

1459543 2019-03-28 21:19:00 You can also get a weak can of fly spray, try another one from a different batch. If it's a good can as soon as you hit them they change their flying tone to a more desperate sound and you know it's going to work. zqwerty (97)
1459544 2019-03-28 23:27:00 Mortein Fast Knockdown Multi Insect Killer would have to be the most potent fly spary that we have ever used.

It literally kills the flies within seconds :)

Give it a try!

1459548 2019-03-29 03:50:00 I use venus fly traps.

I have a dozen or so venus fly traps and a dozen or so droseras and a few nepenthes around the house.

During the summer times I get a few flies that just flies around the lounge. I go out to my greenhouse pickup a venus fly trap and drosera regia then place it on the lounge table.
The flies somehow are dumb enough and gets eaten by the plants and digests it over a period of a few days.

It works quite well.. Better than fly sprays I reckon their useless.
