1459213 2019-03-18 23:24:00 Decided to buy a decent smart AA/AAA battery charger.
Currently researching available ones.
The list is growing.
Could someone recommend one they are happy with that didn't exceed $100 NZ.

Thanks

1459214 2019-03-18 23:49:00 I would say get one that charges batts separately. Some charge in series pairs .
And look at if the charge rate drops for charging 4 compared to charging 1 .

I had a super-duper AA charger a while back. It had functions to test capacity, to discharge ,to pick your charge rate, would show actuall mah's of the batt etc.
Really not worth the $$ . It failed eventually .

I just use a Varta rebranded DSE , many years old. Wasnt expensive and often available dirt cheap on trademe .
I only use rechargables in the camera . Alkaline are now so cheap for a pack of 30 its not worth the effort of mucking about with rechargeable AA's for most things .

1459217 2019-03-19 03:30:00 Eneloops charger from Jaycar. Great buy as you get 4 AA's with it.

+1.
ours is ancient, had it years and years now.
Recently bought one from this guy as well, for a non-standard size battery - husbands torches...

Also cheap, also great.

1459219 2019-03-19 04:46:00 Eneloops charger from Jaycar. Great buy as you get 4 AA's with it. www.jaycar.co.nz Ken :banana:banana +1 for Eneloop. We have 3 of their rapid chargers that can charge a single battery rather than requiring two, as well as individual status LEDs. They couldn't quite keep up with the charging demands of my Lego trains during a show but they did a damn good job trying :) pcuser42 (130)
1459220 2019-03-19 06:46:00 I have This (www.mrpositive.co.nz) one as I use a lot of 18650 batteries gary67 (56)
1459221 2019-03-19 07:03:00 I use a lot of Eneloops, but that charger looks like a cheap trickle charger which I'm not fond of. I don't have one though to check so maybe it is a good one?
The circuitry for automatic deltaV cutoff of charging is cheap as chips these days so any charger without it is not worth having, I think the eneloop rapid charger does.

I have this and it's been very reliable www.jaycar.co.nz
Unfortunately it's discontinued.

This looks good www.mrpositive.co.nz
And the Nitecore has a good reputation www.mrpositive.co.nz

That xstar VC4 looks like a nice charger but I've nott heard of them before so I'm only going by the web page.

1459222 2019-03-19 08:03:00 Thanks guys, I've got my short list down to 17 now.
Just working my way through the reviews.
Favouring the ones with a full readout, not just progressive LEDs.
