| 1457411 | 2019-01-18 08:15:00 | The battery died months ago but I still use it occasionally with the AC plugged in. However now it won't turn on at all. I kept the charger plugged in for hours and noticed it's warm so I don't think it's that. Can the battery reach a point where it won't transfer any power at all when plugged into AC? | 1457416 | 2019-01-19 04:19:00 | Some laptops have to have a battery in place regardless of it charging or not, then there's some that don't have a CMOS battery, and rile on the actual battery to keep the settings. Some laptops if you remove the battery they wont start, BUT if the battery is required and its knackered, its a catch 22, wont boot with the battery in or out. Dell laptops are really weird ( for the lack of a better polite word) ;) |

This is the 2nd battery that's died on me, I just kept using the 1st battery with the AC plugged in for a few months before I bought the 2nd battery but this time I just kept it using it with the dead battery as I don't use it much so I'm wondering that caused it to dry up completely, or maybe it's something else in the laptop. | Vicx (11114) | ||
| 1457418 | 2019-01-20 20:08:00 | It could be a faulty power pack, or a board fault in the laptop itself (power circuitry). Both common faults when laptops wont start The batts dont last forever . Its common for the batts to die as they age . Some cheapie replacement batts just dont last , or can even be DOA It should have been able to run without the batt anyway . :-) |

| 1457419 | 2019-01-20 20:44:00 | Another common fault is the power connector itself, either getting very loose inside or the solder holding it to the motherboard breaking away from movement over time. You can often tell if that's the case though as you can move the connector around and get it to occasionally work in a certain position. |
