1457334 2019-01-15 02:23:00 I thought I'd try something new to me and work a copy of Ubuntu Mate from a Torrent .

I asked for and got ubuntu-mate-1804 . 1 desktop-i386 . iso

Where did it go? I cannot find it in my downloads area nor any place that will report to me where it went . . . . or if it even exists any more .

I didn't close the card that says: "Transmission" on top and somewhat normal . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"2001 GB uploaded 25 . 14 MB (Ratio: 0 . 00)"

and below that ----> Seeding to 0 of 0 connected peers .

I BELIEVE I have it downloaded - and I don't understand what the

'uploaded' part is, but I can live with it I guess .

Where's my file so I can put it on a SD Card? I believe I can just drag-n-drop it on the SD image - but I don't know what I'm supposed to do now .

Is it ready to be made into a bootable SD card yet? Please say 'Yes'!

Help!

If I try to 'Open Folder" it brings up VLC Player - which I don't think will work - somehow.

1457336 2019-01-15 02:53:00 try right clicking on the entry for it in transimission and see if there's an option to got to the file location. Or maybe find the configuration settings for transmission and see where it's set to move ccompleted torrents to.
I stopped using transmission though so these are vague memories.

1457337 2019-01-15 03:09:00 Uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... I right click Transmission on the 'file' to OPEN FOLDER and then VLC opens and tries to find something it can play to make music I guess. SurferJoe46 (51)
1457338 2019-01-15 06:41:00 Seeding is your computer uploading part of the file you are downloading, that is how torrents work, they download and upload from multiple sources at the same time gary67 (56)

What Op System did you use to Download the file? What is that "2001GB uploaded 25 . 14 MB?????? What is 2001GB????????
an . ISO file has to be extracted to a folder and then you use that to burn a CD or DVD , or you have to Mount the . ISO in a image burning app like ImageBurn and burn that to disk as a usable file or instal it from the mounted/opened ISO file . What do you mean by ' Where's my file so I can put it on a SD Card? I believe I can just drag-n-drop it on the SD image" . . . . . . put what on a SD card> the ISO? a bit vague and as far as I know ya can't boot into an Op Sys that is an . ISO image . It, the . ISO has to be extracted to a Folder or burned to a blank CD/DVD and installed to a Hard drive as a Bootable Operating System

Linux Ubuntu-Mint_Rosa 18 . ?

What is that "2001GB uploaded 25 . 14 MB?????? What is 2001GB????????

I think it's the amount of UPloads I sent out to others as I was a 'seed' . I think .

I can see the file on the TRANSMISSION card - but (and this is a great big leap for me here) - that it exists in some never-never-land that is NOT in my file system .

I think you're absolutely right . I just want to write this to the SD so I can use it in a cold-boot on another machine as an INSTALLATION .

It, the . ISO has to be extracted to a Folder or burned to a blank CD/DVD and installed to a Hard drive as a Bootable Operating System

I think I did this already --- as it was recognized by the 'other 'puter' and I am going to install it later on tonight . (It's 20:15 or so here right now and I'm baking Rootbeer Cookies . )

WRONG in every statement above.

You DONT extract the contents of an ISO.

A ISO is compressed version of what ever it was created from, its designed to be in .ISO Format.

When you get a ISO if you want to put it on media you either burn it with ISO software to either a CD or DVD, or if you use a USB use something like rufus. The programs are designed to burn the ISO correctly from the software.

As proof, have a watch of this, its a Mint 19.1 in ISO, shows installing mint on a Virtual Machine, RUNNING from the ISO. If I wanted to install it on the VM I would click install Mint, this is all running from the Live ISO. :)

You CAN boot from a ISO, they are designed for it. streamable.com
