So long as it is legal and consensual I could not care less what anyone else does in their private lives.

Kids might care, if any off them have kids. Like...my cousin's mother (My Aunt) ran off to Aussie with another woman. For a while she disowned her mother., and denying her mother to visit her kids.

I also have two male 2nd cousins that call their male partners as "my partner" - meaning I guess husband/wife terminology is becoming less meaningful? One i thought it was his employer/boss (being in his 60's). But no - cousin (in his 40's) told me his live in partner.

You are quite right of course but the same sex situation is no different than someone leaving a straight relationship.

1459621 2019-04-01 02:35:00 As I see it, marriage was to give the children some sort of security, and legitimacy. Used to be that children had no legal right to their father's estate if the mother was not married to the father when the child was born. Marriage is almost extinct now, as children & mothers have the protection of the law. It is beyond me why a same sex couple should wish to be married, when they can live together with no problems. mzee (3324)
1459622 2019-04-01 03:40:00 Wouldn't want to be doing family history in the near future!!!.

We have both had out DNA loaded onto Ancestry.com and it's hard enough to get any "hits" on relatives, so how are those little beggars' going to get on. Pay money to find out where the hell they came from.

1459625 2019-04-01 19:32:00 My gay friend has kids, who are now older and have kids of their own. They did not care, nor do the grandkids.
Her partner also has a kid, older now too.
He doesn't care either and spends a lot of time with her and her partner, as well as his dad. In fact his dad also spends a lot of time with her.......

Friends ex-partner had kids with a gay guy. She wanted kids, so did he so they used a non-standard method and did it. one set of twins and later another.
The arrangement is 50-50. Custody and visiting. Same as any straight divorced couple do actually, although often the straight divorced couples fight and it ends up not being a happy share custody arrangement.

Wills? It's legal now, whether you marry, shack up or civil ceremony you know.
Most of my non-gay friends are not actually married and have kids, lived happily for years and years.

That's what wills are for you know.
Regardless of a will, generally the kids will inherit at least a certain amount of the estate - look up the law - regardless of who the parent lived with or married or whatever.

It's just the religious and homophobic that imagine there's all this drama and how "unnatural".

In the animal world some fathers care for the kids on their own, some have nothing to do with it at all.....same as humans, some do, some don't, some share it.

Nothing drastic happens you know.

1459627 2019-04-01 21:54:00 When this country thinks that an unmarried mother is an acceptable choice as prime minister it is pointless getting upset about the various alphabet people. CliveM (6007)

Any extremely annoying and uncaring comment Zippity, seems to me as if you are trolling.
