1459425	2019-03-26 06:57:00	you are making a lot of assumptions about what will happen based on what exactly? Seems like guesswork. The black market prices tend to go up, not down. At least that's what happened in Australia. And they have gone 14 years since without another mass shooting so that's hopeful. . yes its guess work based on what people tend to do. its also very dependent on what the govt does. as with any market its supply and demand. if there is a lot of supply prices come down. Australia is not straight forward as i understand it. they also introduced licensing a the same time. your never going to know the effect of their buy back due to that. why not use a machine gun? its not like they are not available. its just they are very very very expensive to acquire.	tweak'e (69)
1459426	2019-03-26 07:11:00	I was part of a M2 .5 gun crew on HMNZS Waikato, port side aft, firing that gun was one the best experiences of my life. Extreme joy is the only words I can think of. Fired at drum targets and at the Hutts aerial target which flew across the ship towed by a Lear jet. Our gun was infamous we shot the Hutts target down one morning although I was only the loader that day. We were asked to aim off the target but bugger the Navy we lead it properly and shot it down. The Lear jet had to fly back to Australia to get another one. Our pilot allowed us to put a silhouette of the target on the helicopter as a kill. Only bettered by flying solo for the first time and shooting my first deer. Birth of our kids getting married way down the list. Imagine the firepower on a P47 it had 8 of them.	prefect (6291)

I have and like mechanical stud, that I have laying around, but if some like (replica) guns to strip down, admire, or "hobby" rebuild, would that be necessarily unappealing? I once went to (British) mate's house around '72, and he had massive Armour shells, and I think a Lee Enfield? and ammo sacks, helmets, etc. His dad was a infantry man in WW2. My mate introduced me to the BSA Meteor and Slavia? air rifles that we used for local rabbit hunting.	kahawai chaser (3545)
1459428	2019-04-01 04:56:00	UPDATE From Police: "Police respond to signalled firearms law changes" As a result of the initial and signalled law changes announced by the Government, Police has created a dedicated team to work on how Police implements the changes. Deputy Commissioner Mike Clement is leading this work for Police and last week brought together an expert reference group of specialists from a number of the Australian Police jurisdictions. “We discussed the processes implemented in Australia following their firearms law reforms and their processes around amnesty and buy-back. “Australia has already been through this, so we wanted to know what their lessons were and what worked for them, ensuring our processes are as well-informed as possible,” says Deputy Commissioner Clement. “Police’s work is always evidence-based and our approach here will be no different. “We have continued our engagement with the New Zealand firearms community. "We know the majority of our firearms licence holders are good members of our communities and we are committed to working in partnership with them.” The Government has signalled that further changes will be made to firearms laws. While the legislation is going through the process to become law, Police will be working through developing processes to address these changes. Firearms licence holders who now find themselves in unlawful possession of a firearm following the Order in Council changes made already can notify Police of this by using the online form, or by calling 0800 311 311. There is currently an amnesty in place for firearms licence holders to notify Police and prepare to hand over affected firearms. Police will contact people who have already notified us of their intent to hand over their firearms, as well as contacting all firearms licence holders. “We assure the firearms community we are committed to working with you to ensure these changes are as easy to navigate as possible.” Since 3pm on Friday 15 March, 211 firearms have been handed in to Police. Some people did this straight away as a result of the horrific terror attack in Christchurch before the Government announced any law changes. Since Police’s dedicated 0800 number for information on changes to firearms went live, 1477 calls have been received and there have been 982 forms completed online. “It is good to see people using the immediate systems we’ve put in place to support them with information on the changes around firearms,” says Deputy Commissioner Clement. “This is just the beginning of our work to keep firearms licence holders informed of the law changes, and stronger stakeholder and communication strategies are being developed. "Police is looking at creating reference groups so we can work through what these changes will look like for different groups in our communities. "We also ask people to continue to let us know what specific queries they have so we can target our information to be as helpful as possible. “We have already received a number of questions and we are working our way through them. “This project is going to be an important task for Police over the coming months as further laws changes go through Parliament and more details are worked through.” ENDS Sign of the times ... just yesterday I had occasion to lay a complaint against a neighbour. 1459429	2019-04-02 01:26:00	I had a mate drop me off some fish the other day and I thought he’d be well and truly caught out with the new Gun Laws. Not so. Although his garage is chocker block with guns (and fishing gear) he doesn’t have to hand any in as they’re all legal. As he pointed out, the only ones banned are military style assault rifles, and if banning them gets the Rambo’s out of the bush, let alone the Mosques, then so much the better for all. :clap	B.M. 1459431	2019-04-02 04:57:00	one of the issues is the politicians have said this is only the start. who knows where it will end and the public in NZ have no say in it what so ever. there is no submissions, no investigations. the public are not trusted enough to handle such an important decision. :waughh:	tweak'e (69)

1459433	2019-04-03 07:48:00	just looking through the proposed changes. the time allowed for submissions has been changed and ends tomorrow at 6pm. tho they probably will not bother to read them, i doubt they have time to. i have not read every last thing and i see comments that there is some weird stuff in there that makes no sense. but the basics that i can see, all semi centrefire rifles will be banned. that includes all mssa and all sporting semi's, including the really old ones that don't have detachable mags. detachable magazine shotguns to be banned (theres only one that i know of). shotguns limited to 5 rounds. all centrefire and rimfire magazines to be limited to 10 rounds. semi rimfires with fixed mags over 10 rounds will be banned (because you can't fit a smaller mag). any magazine over 10 rounds is banned.	tweak'e (69)
